Step 1: Open the Official Website

Open your browser and go to parivahan.gov.in. Always type the URL directly into your address bar and confirm the padlock icon (🔒) appears next to it. This confirms you are on the secure, official government website. Never use any third-party website that claims to offer RC downloads, these sites often collect your personal data without authorisation.

Step 2: Click on Online Services

On the homepage, you will see a navigation bar at the top. Click on “Online Services” and a dropdown menu will appear. From that dropdown, select “Vehicle Related Services.” This redirects you to the VAHAN portal, which is the central database that stores all vehicle registration records in India.

Step 3: Select Your State and RTO

Choose the state where your vehicle is registered from the dropdown list. Then select your district RTO from the next dropdown. For example, if your vehicle has a DL number plate, select Delhi. If your number plate starts with MH, select Maharashtra. The portal uses this information to pull your records from the correct state database. Click “Proceed” to move to the next screen.

Step 4: Enter Your Vehicle Registration Number

On the next page, carefully type your complete vehicle registration number in the field provided.
